Meet the Team

Steve Marszalek
Founder & Head of Getting It Done
With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Steve brings a deep sense of curiosity, passion, and urgency to every project he touches. His career has spanned a wide range of sectors—including commercial, residential, and multi-family developments—throughout the Metro Detroit area. Along the way, he has had the privilege of working alongside some of the region’s most talented professionals on its most impactful projects.
For the past decade, Steve has focused on developing his role as a trusted construction advisor. His approach is intentionally different from that of traditional firms—transparent, hands-on, and owner-focused. As one client put it: "You always know what side Steve is on—yours."
Steve is passionate about helping owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers perform at their best. His goal is always the same: to build with experience, integrity, and excellence.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys training for half marathons and marathons and has been a proud Michigan Wolverines season ticket holder for over 35 years – “GO BLUE”

Kirsten Mellem
Project Puzzle Assembler
Kirsten has over 15 years of experience helping clients achieve their goals. She has a talent for proactively managing complex projects and providing cost-effective, high-quality solutions. Kirsten has worked across diverse sectors, including franchising, municipal, and higher education. This varied experience allows her to bring a well-rounded perspective to every project.
Since joining MICC in 2024, she has worked on Goldfish Swim School projects from coast to coast. Before joining the MICC team, Kirsten worked in the Construction Division at Goldfish Swim School Franchising, where she managed franchise developments nationwide.
In her free time, Kirsten enjoys binge watching tv shows, reading, and going on adventures with her family and cat, Wally.

Austin Moir
Project Puzzle Assembler
Austin is a skilled professional with over a decade of experience in the construction industry. He excels at managing complex residential and commercial projects nationwide.
As a project manager, Austin is known for his effective communication and proactive approach. At MICC, he has managed over a dozen Goldfish Swim School projects from coast to coast, consistently delivering a product that exceeds client expectations.
In his free time, Austin enjoys restoring his Detroit home, running, and gardening. He also loves to play fetch with his dog, Gus.

Autumn Neujahr
Workflow Wizard & Closeout Crusader
Autumn, who holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, began her construction career in 2017 with Goldfish Swim School. She quickly moved up to become a Close Out Manager, completing over two dozen punchlists and working on more than 50 swim schools. This experience led her to develop a passion for natatorium environments, a passion she now uses to train and educate owners and staff on mechanical room operations, both in-person and remotely.
In her role, Autumn excels at transforming chaotic workflows into streamlined, color-coded systems. She provides thoughtful guidance, always seeking to improve collaboration and efficiency while balancing a need for structure with the flexibility required in a dynamic environment.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling and playing with her puppy, Quinn.

Claudia Flores
Submittal Sensei & Captain of Whatever Comes Up
*Challenge Detroit Fellow
With a background in architecture and a deep commitment to her community, Claudia brings a unique perspective to her role at MICC. A native of Mexico, she moved to Metro Detroit as a teenager and went on to study at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She honed her skills in exhibition design at the Art Institute of Chicago before returning to Detroit.
As a member of the Challenge Detroit Fellowship, Claudia works to advance the missions of local nonprofits by dedicating her time and expertise to collaborative, community-focused projects.
In her free time, she enjoys learning new crafts, exploring the outdoors with her dogs, and traveling. Her previous trips include a solo journey to Spain and a study abroad in Italy. Her love for travel ensures there's always a new destination on her list.
